The clients wanted to enlarge their flat which formed the lower part of a large detached house in Trinity by changing the existing kitchen into a bedroom and knocking down an existing garage to allow for the construction of a new kitchen/ dining room.
The existing house was listed so the new extension is built of traditional materials- natural sandstone walls, sash and case windows and a slate roof. In order to maximise light and the feeling of spaciousness, the ceiling follows the line of the roof and is punctuated by generously proportioned rooflights. To the rear of the extension French doors lead out onto a small courtyard garden which has been brought to life by the addition of this extension.
