This extension completely transformed the living space in the existing house, and is all about light and space. The house had a large garden but the small windows and uninspiring accommodation to the rear of the house didn’t make the most of this outlook. Image 2 below was taken before the work was carried out. The solution was to design a large extension across the full width of the existing house, which almost doubled the ground floor area. This extension houses a large luxury kitchen with bifolding doors to a sunny patio to the side which completely opens up the room. The former kitchen to the rear of this became a snug, lit from above with linear rooflights. The new dining room has a feature pyramid rooflight and large doors out on to the garden as well as small square windows to afford a glimpse of the mature trees outside. The walls area mixture of brick and smooth render and the roof is a single ply membrane with standing seam style strips.
